Cycling in Nyköping

In Sweden cycling is extremely popular, people of all ages use bicycles all year round as an usual means of transportation. Cycling through Nyköping is a very pleasant way to discover its many charming spots. Adrià, Efrain, Àngel and Víctor Casanovas took pictures and notes of the experience to let you know about it.

On Thursday, we went on a bike tour in Nyköping. First we met at school and attended a lesson together with our partners. Some of us had cycled to school so we already had bikes but we needed many more so   we went to the tourist office to rent bicycles for the rest.

After adjusting the saddles and getting familiar with the braking system we rode the bikes along the river and parks around the city and we stopped at a castle that the Swedish people call Nyköpingshus. We visited the  the castle and a guide told us about the castle and town history. She said very interesting things about it for instance how the black death affected the town in medieval times.

Later, we went to the Nyköping’s port, there we saw fantastic views of the sea, the seafront restaurants most of them closed after the tourtist season, and we had a picnic lunch by the sea.. Shortly afterwards we took the bikes again to ride along the rest of the promenade of Nyköping. We got to the end of the road and went back to the town centre to drop in the bikes at the tourism office. On our way back we stopped to see a very ancient wooden house near the castle. After returning the bikes we had some free time until our partners finished their lessons at school.
