El museo de Chocolate - Edvin

En miercoles, cuando la lluvia cruel derramaba por encima de Barcelona, algunos de nosotros visitamos el Museo de la xocolata de Barcelona. Alli pedimos una copa de chocolate, que sentía como un bendición dentro del edificio albergado, lejos del lluvia estragando. Despues de terminamos nuestros, asomrosamente semejante a pudín, bebidas compremos billetes para entrar dentro del museo. Curiosamente, y muy adecuadamente pensé, los billetes eran de chocolate y por eso nos dieron algo para comer antes de entramos para el museo. Dentro del museo nos saludaron exposiciónes de tanto esculturas y figuras de chocolate, como una escultura de La Sagrada Familia, una interpretación de la batalla muy afamada de Don Quijote contra los molinos en chocolate, y tambien varios cosas modernas de pop cultura como estatuas de chocolate de caracteres como Los Pitufos, Asterix y Obelix y Tintin. Este conjunto de arte de chocolate presentado en el museo, creado con cuidado y detalles minuciosos, de verdad abrió nuestros ojos sobre las posibilidades artisticas grandes rodeando chocolate, que para el mayoría de nosotros solo es otro dulce que rapidamente comemos y despues olvidamos. Viendo este testimonio de el potential artistico de un medio tan impensable para arte, por supuesto tambien levanta preguntas sobre cuales otros medios se quedan por descrubrir para el uso en el arte. Aparte de el gran variation mostraba entre los esculturas diversos por el museo, tambien eran exposiciónes que presentaron el maravillosamente gran papel que chocolate ha jugado en sociedad desde su primer introducción, hace varios cientos años, de America, con cubinas mostrando herramientas usados en la produccion de chocolate a través de las edades. Además las exposiciónes presentaron la historia de chocolate con mas cubinas, pero tambien con algunos cortometrajes. Lo que nosotros encontraramos como el mas interesente era el gran impacto chocolate nos han dado, y este en particular era algo que no podemos imaginar antes de llegamos alli.

En conclusión, la excurcion al museo de chocolate en Barcelona era muy interesante y definitivamente un descanso de la lluvia terrible, que valió la pena!

On Wednesday, while the cruel rain was pouring down over Barcelona a few of us paid a visit to the chocolate museum in Barcelona. There we ordered a cup of chocolate, which felt like a blessing inside of the sheltering building, away from the havocking downpour. After finishing our, surprisingly pudding-like, chocolate we purchased tickets to enter the museum. Interestingly, and very appropriately I thought, the tickets themselves were made of chocolate and thus gave us a snack to eat before entering the museum. In the museum we were greeted by exhibitions of both sculptures and figures made of chocolate, such as a sculpture of La Sagrada Familia, an interpretation of Don Quijote’s famed battle against the windmills in chocolate, and also some modern pop cultural things such as chocolate statues of characters such as the Smurfs, Asterix and Obelix and Tintin. The ensemble of chocolate art presented in the museum, carefully crafted with minute detail, really opened up our eyes to the vast artistic possibilities surrounding chocolate, which to most of us is but another snack to hastily eat and forget about afterwards. Witnessing this testament of the artistic potential of such an unthinkable medium of art, of course also raises questions about what other mediums are left to be discovered for use in art. Apart from the comprehensive variations displayed among the various sculptures in the museum there were also exhibitions presenting the, surprisingly, huge role chocolate has played in society since it was first introduced to us several hundred years ago from America, along with booths showing tools used in chocolate production throughout the ages. Additionally the exhibitions presented the history of chocolate through more booths, but also with some interesting short films. We especially found the huge cultural impact of chocolate to be intriguing, and this in particular was definitely something we could not have imagined prior to coming here.

 In conclusion, the excursion was very interesting and definitely a worthwhile break from the terrible rain.
